The Beijing Royal Fighters (Chinese: 北京紫禁勇士; pinyin: Běijīng Zǐjìn Yǒngshì) are a Chinese professional men's basketball team which is based in Beijing and plays in the Northern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Beijing BG (known in Chinese as Beijing Beikong) is the club's corporate sponsor.

History

The franchise was founded in 2009 in Guangzhou and spent its first five seasons of existence competing in the lower levels of China's basketball league system. The team relocated to Chongqing in 2012. The club entered the CBA in the 2014–15 season as an expansion team and finished at the bottom of the league standings with a record of 4–34.

In September 2015, the club relocated again and was initially renamed Beijing BG, but to avoid confusion with the city's association football team, which is also called Beijing BG, as well as to avoid confusion with the Beijing Ducks when only the geographical names of the clubs are used, a large number of Chinese sports websites refer to the team as the Beikong Fly Dragons.

Der Beijing Controls Flying Tigers Basketball Club (chinesisch 北京控股飞虎篮球俱乐部, Pinyin Běijīng Kònggǔ Fēihǔ Lánqiú Jùlèbù), auch bekannt als Beikong Fly Dragons (北京首钢飞龙, Běijīng Shǒugāng Fēilóng), ist ein professioneller Basketballclub, der in der Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) spielt. Der Verein hat seinen Sitz in Peking und trägt seine Heimspiele im Cadillac Center aus.

Beikong wurde 1950 als "Beijing Athletics Team" gegründet. Der Verein spielte in den ersten Jahren der CBA eine bescheidene Rolle, doch in den letzten Jahren hat er sich zu einer der führenden Mannschaften entwickelt. In der Saison 2014-15 erreichte Beikong erstmals die Playoffs und 2017-18 erreichte er das Halbfinale.

Die Mannschaft wird von Trainer Dimitrios Itoudis trainiert. Zu den wichtigsten Spielern gehören Justin Hamilton, Zhai Xiaochuan, Sun Tonglin und Wang Shaojie.

Die Beikong Fly Dragons sind einer der beliebtesten Vereine in Peking und ihre Fans sind für ihre Leidenschaft und Unterstützung bekannt. Der Verein ist auch für sein soziales Engagement bekannt und hat mehrere gemeinnützige Programme ins Leben gerufen.
