Thyella ("Storm")(Greek: Α.Π.Σ. Θύελλα A.P.S. Thyella) is an athletic club in Patras in the Achaia prefecture.
History
The club is one of the most popular in the entire prefecture of Achaea. The team was first created on June 14, 1930 and in the same year, the team entered the third division. Until 1938, the team reached the first category and played a protagonistic role and conquered many titles. In 1959 the team played under the Olympiacos name and played in the second division in the 1960–61 season, they played in the same division by renaming the club back to Thyella. Its colours are blue and white. They belong to the Achaea Football Clubs Association and won the Achaea championship two times.
The team entered the fourth division. For many years, the team played in the Prosfyghika Stadium and today plays in the same stadium which constructed after the games of the former president and player Fotis Aravantinou and Dimitris Andresas and the president Panagiotis Thanopoulos. It has a central field along with two others, two of them plays in grass.
Der Verein hat eine lange Geschichte und spielte in der Vergangenheit in der zweiten griechischen Liga, der Beta Ethniki. In der Saison 1998/99 gelang Thyella Patras sogar der Aufstieg in die erste griechische Liga, die Alpha Ethniki. Allerdings konnte sich der Verein nur eine Saison in der höchsten Spielklasse halten und stieg direkt wieder ab.
In den folgenden Jahren spielte Thyella Patras in der Beta Ethniki und der Gamma Ethniki. Im Jahr 2012 wurde der Verein wegen finanzieller Probleme aufgelöst. Im Jahr 2015 wurde Thyella Patras jedoch wiedergegründet und startete in der vierten griechischen Liga, der Delta Ethniki. In der Saison 2018/19 gelang dem Verein der Aufstieg in die Gamma Ethniki.
Thyella Patras trägt seine Heimspiele im Pampeloponnisiako Stadion aus, das 8.000 Zuschauern Platz bietet. Der Verein hat eine große und leidenschaftliche Fangemeinde, die ihn bei seinen Spielen lautstark unterstützt.
Die Farben von Thyella Patras sind blau und weiß. Das Vereinswappen zeigt einen Löwen, der einen Fußball hält. Der Löwe ist das Symbol der Stadt Patras.
