The UTSA Roadrunners women's basketball team represents the University of Texas at San Antonio in women's basketball. The school competes in the American Athletic Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Roadrunners play home basketball games at Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas.

History

As of the end of the 2015–16 season, the Roadrunners have an all-time record of 493–500 since beginning play in 1981. From 1992–2012, they played in the Southland Conference, before joining Conference USA in 2013 after one year in the Western Athletic Conference.

Das UTSA Roadrunners Damen-Basketballteam ist eine NCAA Division I College-Basketball-Mannschaft, die die University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in San Antonio, Texas vertritt. Das Team spielt seine Heimspiele im Convocation Center und ist Mitglied der Conference USA.

Die Roadrunners wurden 1976 gegründet und waren Mitglied der Southland Conference, bis sie 2013 in die Western Athletic Conference (WAC) wechselten. Im Jahr 2017 wechselte UTSA in die Conference USA.

Die Roadrunners hatten mehrere erfolgreiche Saisons, darunter einen Auftritt im NCAA-Turnier 2016, wo sie in der ersten Runde gegen die Mississippi State Bulldogs verloren. Im Jahr 2019 gewann UTSA den WAC-Titel und erhielt einen automatischen Platz im NCAA-Turnier, wo sie in der ersten Runde gegen die Maryland Terrapins verloren.

Die Roadrunners werden von Trainerin Karen Aston trainiert, die das Team seit 2019 leitet. Aston war zuvor Trainerin der University of Texas Longhorns und der University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

Die Roadrunners haben mehrere herausragende Spielerinnen hervorgebracht, darunter die All-Americans LaTonya Johnson und Katrina Parrott. Johnson wurde 1991 von den Portland Trail Blazers gedraftet und spielte zwei Saisons in der WNBA. Parrott wurde 1994 von den Detroit Shock gedraftet und spielte acht Saisons in der WNBA.

Die Roadrunners sind ein aufstrebendes Programm im Frauen-College-Basketball und haben das Potenzial, in den kommenden Jahren noch mehr Erfolg zu haben.
